Sitting down to record a loved one is a gift — but knowing what to ask can be the hard part. Use these guided questions to spark the stories your family will treasure.
Before You Press Record
- Pick a quiet room with soft, natural light — facing a window works beautifully.
- Sit close. A phone held a few feet away captures their voice clearly.
- Ask one question, then listen. The best moments come from follow-ups like “tell me more about that.”
- Don't rush the pauses. Quiet moments often hold the most meaning.
- Keep each video short — with Legacy Plus, each clip can be up to 60 seconds, so aim for one question per video.
- Attach each video to their profile in your tree, and give it a title like “Mom on how she met Dad.”
